Write about the change in your feelings from first hearing we were doing a Shakespeare unit through now. Explain specifically what events changed your feelings.
My first thought when we found out we were going to do a Shakespeare unit was... 'cool'. And not 'Coooooool!'. just... 'cool'. If there was an equivalent to a cool with only 1 'o' to emphasize how unenthusiastic(while still interested) I was, that would be it. Now I think 'THAT WAS SO FUN! I HOPE WE GET TO DO THAT AGAIN!'
In The Taming of the Shrew, was Kate tamed in the end? Explain your opinion with examples from the text.
Personally, I don't think so, at least not all the way. In the end when she gave her speech about obedience, I feel like it was more a speech about willingness to serve others. She talks about a debt a wife owes to her husband, and that we should put our hand under their feet, but I feel like it was more about willingness to respect each other. My thoughts about this are that during the movie, Petruchio wasn't fighting to make her obedient really, they were fighting giving each other respect. They didn't want to give each other respect, but for a healthy marriage, you need respect. You have to have willingness before you have obedience. I went kind of off topic there, but none the less, Kate isn't being tame, she just found the willingness to obey, and they both found the willingness to respect each other, and that, my fellow students, is what is most important in a marriage
